I remember showing this space to Nahiku & my pops, and they both looked at me like I was absolutely nuts. Eh, they weren't wrong, but when starting from ground zero everything, it's not going to be the easy, ideal, big and beautiful dream route that one would want. We pulled from every resource available.. Leftover materials & paint colors from previous jobs, literally purchasing the only flooring that was available in stock that we could afford in all of Kona, even down to stripping the hale from all our personal decor with a few pieces from Ross thrown in the mix. Family and friends showing up after their Real jobs, just to help lay a coat of paint, install some flooring, and even help merchandise our super tiny inventory.
This was how we took over the space. Literally a scary tiny dungeon, with nothing to give.
I very quickly learned how building on a very small budget, with very limited resources, and a ticking time clock felt.
With nothing but absolute gratitude from our first Vendors who were open and willing to take a chance on us and our Dream before it was a physical reality, We were able to have our Soft opening on November 20th, 2018.
It was a crazy beautiful experience.
With all that being said, we must give credit where credit is ultimately due.
That's to you Dad.
Thank you for believing this can and will work. Dissecting my crazy ideas, and turning them into a reality. We couldn't have done this without you! Love You.
If you are still reading, thanks for sticking around to learn about our "Before & After" of the original shop. It's been a lot of work, but a ton of fun and believe us when we say, this is only just the Beginning!
